I was noticing that every time I wore my insulated duck boots, my hip started hurting. I looked at them, and realized the narrow heel and tight toes were making me change my stride. So, I looked at some different barefoot brands to try and find a flatter, warm winter boot. This one has worked great for walking in snow, going sledding, and does decently well on ice. They are nice and warm. I've worn them in high teens with a medium weight wool sock, and my feet have been toasty! The waterproofing is holding up fine, but I've only had these for a month. I've worn them almost every day, though! They are very flat, but comfy. They do run a little narrow, but fit my foot well. I normally wear a 9 in boots, but had to order a 10.5 in this brand! So, if you are a lady with a larger foot, you might need to order the men's in this style. Overall, I'm very happy with these! Kind of feels like going out to play in the snow in comfy, secure slippers! I have large, painful bunions on my feet that require me to wear flatter shoes (I'm only 31, but have been this way forever), and these allowed room for my bunion with no straps or pressure going over that area.Lovely boots in terms of fit/wide toe. They are comfortable and flexible.I had a quality issue on the straps as one of them detached from the ankle. The boots function okay with the damage but water resistance is lessened and the insole detached as a result. I waited too long to ask about a return and so will have to just deal with it and maybe wax them.My husband/son also got a pair around the same time and they haven't had strap issues so it is likely a manufacturing defect in that particular boot.I still use them every day, but drying them out is part of the routine for all of us on wetter days. The boots are not suitable for -10C and are cold on the under foot at that temp even with extra thick socks. They are definitely not water proof enough for sloppy slush/snow conditions.Would be a good autumn boot. I will be looking for different boots for next winter.Pros: light weight for a snow boot. I was running around the yard in the snow with my dog, I couldn’t do that easily in my other boots. I like the look. Seem pretty warm, kept my feet dry (I used them in a couple of inches of snow in 30 degree weather with no socks) Traction seems good but have not used on any intense ice yet. Nice roomy toe box.Only con for me is I have narrow feet so the width is a little wide. I will pair with thick socks to see.I wear a size 7 1/2 usually in shoes for reference. Got a size 8. The length seems good.UPDATE: Paired them with thick socks and tightened them all the way and took them out for some time sledding. They were great! Feet were dry and warm. A lot easier, more comfortable to move around in compared to tradition snow boots.I was excited to get this boot, but disappointed to find that despite ordering an entire size larger it was still too small. I had the same thing happen with a pair of shoes that were marked true to size. I sent those back and got a half size larger. So, with these boots I ordered a whole size larger to allow for thick socks. Unfortunately, they were too tight with just thin nylons on. Bummer.I’ve been a long time fan of minimalist shoes, in particular Vibram Five Fingers. They don’t offer a decent actual winter boot though, and “regular” boots are hell on my feet. Enter the Xero Alpine!! Wow!! I’m so happy with these boots!! They run pretty small though, I ordered a 9.5 and returned it for an 11, which is the perfect fit. Nice wide toe box, waterproof, cozy, flexible and I’ve had no foot or leg pain during or after wearing. Thank you Xero!! I’ll be seeing you guys in the spring this year as well, looking forward to trying more of your offerings!!I was overly excited to find out that they finally came out with a winter boot. I am a big fan of these shoes and own a couple pairs as I spend a lot of time on the trails leading nature walks. I am always so sad when the cold and snowy winter months arrive as I have yet to find a warmer boot that still feels like I am touching the earth. I just received them and they feel and fit perfectly. I have no doubt that when the snow falls they will deliver all the warmth comfort and joy I love in this brand!I got these because I’ve just started as a letter carrier with the usps and I don’t have a uniform yet and the snow in NH is pretty bad. Legit I feel like I’m wearing slippers, they are so light and comfortable but my feet haven’t gotten cold nor wet and I’ve been walking in snow up to mid calf! These are definitely a must buy!I love all of my xero shoes so far! Most boots really hurt me but these don't. None of their shoes have a "breaking in" time either. I wear these for bird watching in the winter and they are cute enough to wear while doing errands. The company has the best customer service. Had to go up a half size.I wanted to love these. I'm returning them. The design of the boot above the heel pushes your foot forward and makes them too short. I have other Xero shoes that I enjoy very much. They sent the wrong color but it was really nice anyway.
