Used this camping overnight, a few degrees below freezing. A base layer and a button up shirt underneath kept me comfortable. I think some considerable layering would be required for the “wild arctic winters” the description says this is designed for. The hood is adjustable and I was able to get it adjusted perfectly so that my face (eyes) were exposed for visibility or completely covered for hunkering down. It will stay in either position because of the elastic cord. Hand warmers work great. The shell material seems a little lightweight, but I guess that’s by design. I’m interested in how well it will hold up.Not disappointed in my purchase.I usually wear a medium in jackets and got a medium in this one. Fits well with room to layer.General:This is a very nice jacket. I've wanted a Helly for some time now and decided to try to find a nice parka on sale now that winter is (supposedly) winding down. The details on this jacket are pretty much flawless. No loose threads, no misaligned stitching, etc.In addition to the outer chest pocket with the vertical zipper, there's a zipper to an inner chest pocket under the snap flap that covers the main zipper. This is a nice touch in that you don't have to unzip your jacket to get to the inner pocket. It also has a "button hole" so you can use headphones with whatever device you have in that pocket. There's also a large mesh pocket on the inside that mirrors the size of the large outer pockets. This would work for holding a tablet, etc. although there is no zipper, it's just a large pouch. The sleeves have cuffs, which is really nice at keeping the cold out. And there are flip-up "flaps" around the outer sleeves that have reflective material should you wish to be more visible at night. This is not a super heavy coat, but it was plenty warm today at 23deg. F. It's soft, flexible, and feels like a nice, warm hug!The Fit:I am 6'-1", 240lbs, and a bit pear-shaped. I bought the green, size XL, and it's just a tiny bit snug around the middle. This is a 3/4 length, so it ends right about where my buttocks do.Overall, t I'm very happy with this purchase. I did my research, and this jacket was exactly what I expected, and I don't mind paying a bit more for exactly what I want. That said, click around for different colors and sizes, as I found the prices vary wildly depening on your choices. My version lists for $300 and I nabbed it for $129 (and then saw it at $114 a week later...).This parka screams quality and it is going to keep you warm just about anywhere that I can think of going with 100g primaloft in the arms and 133g in the torso. Everything about it is top shelf with materials, functions, style, zippers, adjustable hood, wrist blocks off wind without having to use Velcro, and as many external and internal pockets that I've ever seen on a jacket. I've got about 5 Helly jackets now and all have been superb. You could say that I must be biased but I think its based on reality and not just my preference. They just make outstanding products. This Svalbard parka is right up there at the top. I also love that it is a little longer in the back and warm everywhere with he perfect amount of primaloft covered in its exceptional weatherproof skin. Its also a little lighter weight than I was expecting and a little roomier, too. It hangs well on the body though and doesn't look baggy at all. I love it and wish I could give it even more stars. Thanks HH for a superb price and thanks Amazon for a fantastic deal. I know buying this coat in Spring gets it significantly lower but $34 shipped for what is easily a $300 parka is just plain phenomenal. A+ all the way here!I really like the feel, warmth and look of this coat. I wore it around town and on the slopes. On the slopes in zero degree F I was plenty warm (with a couple layers underneath). Great coat.Warm and comfortable. I wanted to wait a few weeks after purchasing this coat to write a review and I'm glad as I noticed a few helpful features. First of all I removed the fur and the hood looks better without but if I need it I'll look for it later. This is a great travel coat as it packs well and fits into a small space in the overhead compartment. I'm 6'1" and I picked an XL and as you can see by the photo the coat is long enough to cover. The drop tail gives plenty of coverage and your back pocket feels secure in crowds. The color is true and it doesn't feel bulky in town. I liked the extra protection on the shoulders as I was carrying bags through the airport and there was no seam to snag at the top. Another nice feature was a slight notch near the top of the zipper so that the collar felt comfortable when fully zipped. I wore the coat to a football game and I was warm in the upper stands with just a sweatshirt underneath. The arms are very warm and the cuffs are great for keeping out the wind. The only thing I would add is another secured (zippered) pocket inside the coat. The small zippered phone pocket works fine but I'd like an additional pocket.I have always wanted an HH jacket, they have such a great style and function. I took this with me snowboarding for the weekend and was pleasantly surprised at how warm I stayed in the 19 degree weather. I also had a pair of hot chillys and a north face zip up as well. Not once was I cold or wet in this jacket the whole time. Great freedom of range when moving. Honestly it is worth every penny. 10 out of 10 for me. I’m an athletic build 5’9 170 guy and I purchased a medium.Waterproof and windproof, which it claims. I am just surprised that it does what it claims. So far amazing coat, performance and looks. As far as the look of the coat, I receive compliments all the time on how nice. Performance, so far so good, coat performs exactly as described. Coldest temps of the season so far in NW PA have been zero or slightly below with the wind chill. I normally wear an undershirt, a long sleeve shirt and sometimes a light fleece. Have had no issues whatsoever being cold, however if I were to work outside for any length of time in those conditions I would probably want to wear a hoodie or fleece layer underneath.Really good coat, very warm and not that thick which is a bonus. As other reviewers have said, a real pity that the zip is not two way, meaning you have to undo the coat to sit down. Apart from that, all good.I love the quality of this coat and the fact that it doesn't overheat me. The insulation is excellent and even in heavy rain I'm still dry beneath. My only dislike is that I picked the wrong size so it's a tad too big.Warm and comfortable coat. Hood is too large and droops down at the front so can't see ahead. Probably great in a snow storm though if you need to hunker down.Love the coat.. does keep me warm in the colder days that we've had recently. Lots of pockets on there too which is handy. Not sure what it's like in the rain yet.I ordered a small and a medium initially to make sure I got the right one. The small was a little too snug around the waist/bum (I'm not big) but fine everywhere else, and the medium was slightly oversized but went with the medium to be safe.Bought especially to go to Norway very warm with hood and storm flapFelt comfortable in all weathers
