For some, this jacket is probably the greatest thing since sliced bread. However for others, it simply doesn't work. I fall into that second category. To begin, I'll disclose that I got this jacket for a heck of a great price (just over $50) from Amazon. While I currently live in South Florida and have zero need for this kind of jacket while home, I travel often and some of those travels include trips to cold places where I need the type of warmth this jacket would provide. So I was really excited to get it and see how it was. Then it arrived and that's where the excitement turned to disappointment.First, this jacket is massive. Forget all notions of your typical "packable" Columbia jacket. This thing is huge, "puffy" (it's aptly named by using the word "puffer" in its title) and, even when folded, looks very similar to a sleeping bag. It's huge and I just cannot imagine traveling with it. If you live in an area where you have to wear this jacket in the colder months, and never have to pack it or travel with it, it's for you. If you plan on taking this on a trip to somewhere cold, just keep in mind you will not be traveling light. In terms of sizing, having read some of the reviews here, I was unsure how the sizing would go, so I ordered two, in different sizes. Columbia often has vastly differing sizes in their products, with the same exact item sometimes fitting completely different based on where its made. Working out and lifting weights, I have a large chest, broad shoulders, big arms/biceps, with a narrower waist and torso. So sizing can sometimes be difficult for me, something I readily admit. In this jacket, the XL fit fine through the waist and torso (a little big actually), the arms and chest were at least a size too small (if not two sizes too small). The XXL fit looser through the shoulders and chest (about like an XL would), but around the waist/torso area was like a parachute. Even with my particular characteristics out of the way, I would say this jacket runs small and you'll be better off by going to a local store (if possible) and trying one on to see for yourself. If not, you'll probably be ok ordering a size up, but know that the size up will be on the baggier side. It's just that if you get your standard size, you'll probably find it too snug. Also, much like some of Columbia's "fishing" shirts, the arms (particularly upper arms) are extremely tight, and that's not just a product of my particular case/biceps. This jacket tends to be very small in the upper arm and also kind of cuts-in/digs into the armpit areas. Again, another screwy aspect of Columbia sizing.I wanted to like this jacket, I truly did. But even if it had fit perfectly, I simply would not have taken this with me on my travels. It's just too big, too cumbersome, and as someone that always travels light, this would have been left at home. So, back to Amazon it went, good deal or not.Just like the others say, it runs big. I wear a small, so I can't order any smaller. I look like a short, Greek, Michelin Man. My wife and I wondered if the jacket was mislabeled as a 'Small,' but the experience of others leads me to believe these jackets just run big. The extra room will give me the opportunity to layer as necessary, but I wish the fit was a little more true to size. Come winter time in the mountains, I'm assuming I'll have no complaints given that many of the other reviews speak to how warm this jacket keeps you. If the warmth ends up outweighing my vanity, I will update my review as necessary. In the meantime, I'm thinking of going as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man for Halloween.UPDATE: I returned due to the size. Unfortunate- really nice jacket!Peace. For the price, this jacket is very good. It is pretty basic, just two exterior pockets. It is light, warm, and very comfortable. I am 5' 10", 210 lbs, with a fit build, but not perfect build. I have a 48 chest and big arms, so I ordered the XL size. It gives me enough room to wear my fleece under the jacket for colder days. I could have probably ordered the Large, but it would have been a bit tight if I ever wanted to wear a fleece under it. I am very pleased with this jacket, good quality and great price. I must say, I have been ordering items from Amazon regularly and never had a problem. With this order, the first shipment of this item was not in the locker. I received a code, when the locker opened up, it was empty. However, two phone calls later and Amazon customer service did re-ship a replacement right away. I am very pleased with their customer service response and I would like to thank them for their fast and courteous service.Update, I love this jacket. Used it in 20 degree weather on a windy day and kept me nice and warm. Awesome. Light yet very warm.Have been looking for a warm coat for winter and decided to order this one based on research and reviews on here. First, I am 6' tall, 190#s, 34" waist with an athletic build (I wear a 44-46 athletic cut sport coar for reference). The fit of this coat is fine considering that I will probabaly be layering a sweathshirt or sweater underneath. Is is NOT as form fitting (tight around body) ss something like a North Face puffy jacket. Then again, those are more than twice the price and down filled. .There is a drawstring around the bottom to tighten. The length is about halfway down jeans back pocket. I was surprised that the fill is pretty sparse and doesn't really provide a lot of "fluff", but overall I am happy with the jacket. Did well in the 12f weather here today. Hope my "fit" description helps. Always a challenge for me ordering stuff without trying on first. Of course, Amazon prime 2 day shipping was right on time.Love this winter jacket. Very warm and comfortable. I've been wearing it in low 30 degree weather with just a T shirt underneath and I feel very warm and cozy. Took one star off because inside pockets do not have a button or zipper to keep things from falling out. The outside pockets do have zippers on them, so it depends on how much stuff you're carrying. I ordered an XL in case I ever needed to layer a heavy sweatshirt inside, but a large would've worked too. I'm 5'10" 215lbs for reference.Great jacket for late fall I don't think it will be warm enough to be used in winters. The size was a little larger than I expected but it still looks good and now I have room for sweaters underneath.Great look and great fit. Not as warm as expected, you'll definitely need a fleece under this jacket if you want to survive the Canadian winter.Love this jacket. Ordered it for my husband and he wears it every day. Looks good, lightweight but warm.Im 6'1" 200lbs. Large is a bit big for me im more of a slim fit.Perfect , nice jacket, puffy so you seem a bit bigger than you are, quality is nice, delivery is quickNothing wrong to say
